Hi Everyone, Congratulations to all our teams that played semi finals on the weekend. The good news is that D3W won after going to 5 v 5 in drop off and D1M unfortunately went down in the same scenario. All others teams who strangely enough all came second after the completion of fixtures will have to win this weekend to play in the Grand Final - nothing like keeping up our tradition of doing things the hard way!!!. Please come out and support our teams who are playing as follows: J1 Boys 11.10 am v Caboolture
D3M 1.50pm v Rebels
D3W 1.50pm v Caloundra
D2M 3.10pm v Rebels
D1W 7.30pm v Rebels Also a reminder that raffle tickets need to be returned either this weekend or at training next week if not already handed in. Jnr Breakup is this Sunday at Alex Bowls starting at 2pm. Presentation Night is Friday 17/9/10 at the Maroochy RSL starting at 7pm - don't forget to dress as your favourite Commonwealth Games athlete (past or present). Tickets are $20. Please RSVP to your team coach/manager by GF day. |

Hi Everyone, Some of you may have seen an article on the back page of the Daily last week as a tribute to Neil Upton following his passing. Although most of you would not know "Uppo", he was very much a part of the Maroochydore Hockey Club support network in the early days when we used to train at the Maroochydore AFL fields and had many members who were involved both with hockey and AFL. He provided strapping and "repair" work to many players over the years. Although it has been many years since he was involved with MHC it is fitting that we acknowledge his contribution to our history. Also to Life Member Maureen Craske and son Luke, please accept our condolences on the passing of Mauz' mum last weekend - our thoughts are with you. Jo |

Congratulations to Luke & Chantelle on the birth of a baby girl this morning. No more details yet but I'm sure we will see them at hockey this weekend when Luke plays his D3 semi. Also congrats to the new grandparents John and Wendy and Uncle Sam!!! |

Hi Everyone, Our fixture season has now finished. Our J3 boys and girls both finished in 2nd position on the ladder and as this division does not play finals they have finished for the year. Well done to these teams. Our J2 girls and D2W have also finished as they did not make semi finals - congratulations on your season!! 2010 will be the year of 2nd place with J1 Boys, D3M, D2M and D1W all ending up 2nd on the ladder and D3W third and D1M fourth respectively. Our teams involved in semis are listed below along with times for this weekend. Friday Night

Congratulations to Tracy Armitage followig her selection in the 2011 Australian Country Team to tour NZ in April. Tracy was part of the Qld Team who were runners up in the recent Australian Country Championships. Congratulations also to former members Jason Lamb and Dale Burt who represented the mens ADF team. Best wishes to Rebecca Tenant who leaves next Sunday to travel to NZ with the Qld Development Team as their umpire. Well done Bec on this appointment. Commiserations to Ash Fey & Meg Lawrence following Qld's loss in the final of the Australian U/21's yesterday. Victoria won the title aftering downing Qld 2-1 in the final. The Vic's second goal was scored 25 seconds before fulltime. That was Qld's first loss for the tournament and congratulations to Ash and Meg on their respective tournaments. PRESENTATION NIGHT 2010 will be held at the Maroochydore RSL on Saturday 18 September 2010 - this is the weekend after Grand Finals. Further details to be provided. |

Congratulations to all our juniors who participated in State Championships over the school holidays. Particular mention to Ed Hamill who has been selected in the Qld U/15 side to compete at the National Championships later in the year. Ed is the first member of our club to be selected in this age group. Also to Lucia Alzetta who was a member of the successful U/13 SCHA side who won their division resulting in SCHA being promoted back to Division 1 in this competition. On the umpiring front - also well done to our umpires who have officiated at State Championships this year. Again we are being represented at state/national level - Jamie Brown has been selected to umpire at the Australian Primary School Championships next month and Rebecca Tennant will be umpiring at the Australian Womens U/21 Championships later this month. Well done everyone!!! |

Further congratulations to Meg Lawrence who has now been called into the Qld u/21 team to compete at the National Championships later in the year. She joins Ashlea Fey as our first two club members in our history to earn selection in this side!!! Due to the rescheduling of wet weather games from last weekend there will be no training this week 2/6/10. Reminder of our Club Social NIght this Saturday at the Duporth Tavern starting at 8pm.
